Graduate Instructor Seminar on the Teaching of Writing (January 2021)
(If you are reading this site via Collab, right click on the course title above and “open in new tab” to enter full website.)
The second Seminar in the Teaching of Writing introduces UVA graduate students from a variety of disciplines to advanced practices and processes for writing instruction. Through a combination of brief presentations, interactive workshops, and group discussions, we will survey models of assignments and other practical resources and workshop participant-developed teaching materials. Ideally, these endeavors will help us pursue the major goals of this seminar; which is to cultivate processes for introducing undergraduates and others to writing as a method for both learning and communication, to design discipline specific in-class writing activities, and to develop strategies for responding efficiently and productively to student writing.
