Unit Two: Substantive Editing
In this second unit, you will work in teams of 4 to compare existing editions of published works, study the edits between editions, and select a manageable section (about 5-15 pages, negotiable) to rework as a team. Individually, you will then complete a substantive edit (sub-edit) of that section and write an edit letter explaining your edits to the author. Back with your team, you will compare notes and put together a presentation arguing for or against particular approaches to the project.
