Unit Two
Putting Ourselves in the Lab
In this unit:
We will “put ourselves in the lab” by posing preliminary research questions and formulating (unknown to most of the class) hypotheses, then conducting a series of reading and writing activities ourselves and gathering data on our activities through talk-aloud protocols and group self-reporting. Finally, we’ll work together as a group to draft a pre-proposal for further research.
By the unit’s end:
You should have had a chance to test some of your own ideas coming of out Unit 1 against your own and your peers’ experiences. You should also have a better sense of yourself as both reader and writer, and you should have a good collection of data and ideas to move forward into your independent research projects in Unit 3.
